Count of Luxembourg
The Count of Luxembourg was a noble title in the historical region of Luxembourg, which is now a Grand Duchy. The title originated in the 10th century and was held by various noble families, most notably the House of Luxembourg. The counts played a significant role in the political landscape of medieval Europe, often engaging in alliances and conflicts with neighboring territories.
In 1815, the title was elevated when Luxembourg became a Grand Duchy, and the ruling family transitioned to the Grand Dukes of Luxembourg. Today, the Grand Duchy is a constitutional monarchy, and the current head of state is Henri, Grand Duke of Luxembourg, who succeeded his father in 2000.
