Coryphaenidae
Coryphaenidae, commonly known as the dolphinfish or mahi-mahi, is a family of fish found in warm oceanic waters. This family includes two main species: the common dolphinfish (Coryphaena hippurus) and the pompano dolphinfish (Coryphaena equiselis). They are known for their vibrant colors, with bright green and yellow hues, and are popular among sport fishermen.
These fish are fast swimmers and can reach speeds of up to 57 miles per hour. Coryphaenidae are also known for their distinctive, elongated bodies and large dorsal fins. They primarily feed on smaller fish and are often found near floating debris or sargassum seaweed, which provides shelter and food.
