Corticobasal Degeneration
Corticobasal Degeneration (CBD) is a rare neurodegenerative disorder that primarily affects movement and cognitive functions. It is characterized by the progressive degeneration of specific areas in the brain, particularly the cortex and basal ganglia. Symptoms often include stiffness, difficulty with coordination, and problems with speech and language.
Patients with CBD may also experience cognitive decline, including issues with memory and problem-solving. The condition typically progresses over several years, leading to increased disability. There is currently no cure for CBD, and treatment focuses on managing symptoms to improve quality of life.
