Cornelius Van Til
Cornelius Van Til (1895-1987) was a Dutch-American theologian and philosopher known for developing the presuppositional approach to apologetics. He taught at Westminster Theological Seminary and emphasized the importance of a Christian worldview in understanding reality. His work aimed to demonstrate that all human thought is influenced by underlying beliefs.
Van Til argued that non-Christian worldviews ultimately lead to contradictions and cannot provide a coherent basis for knowledge. He believed that the existence of God is foundational for rational thought and that the Bible is the ultimate authority in matters of truth. His ideas have significantly influenced Reformed theology and apologetics.
