Coptic Pope
The Coptic Pope is the spiritual leader of the Coptic Orthodox Church, one of the oldest Christian denominations in the world. Based in Egypt, the Pope is considered the successor to Saint Mark, who is believed to have founded the church in the first century. The Pope's role includes guiding the church's spiritual and administrative matters, overseeing its clergy, and representing the Coptic community in interfaith dialogues.
The current Coptic Pope, Pope Tawadros II, was enthroned in 2012. He plays a crucial role in addressing the challenges faced by Copts in Egypt and abroad, including issues of religious freedom and community welfare. The Pope also participates in various ecumenical efforts to promote unity among different Christian denominations.
