Pope Shenouda III
Pope Shenouda III was the 117th Pope of the Coptic Orthodox Church, serving from 1971 until his death in 2012. Born on August 3, 1923, in Egypt, he was known for his efforts to modernize the church and promote interfaith dialogue. He played a significant role in the spiritual and social life of the Coptic community.
During his papacy, Pope Shenouda III focused on education and the welfare of the Coptic people, establishing numerous schools and institutions. He was also a vocal advocate for the rights of Christians in Egypt and worked to strengthen the church's presence both locally and internationally.
