Convention People's Party (CPP)
The Convention People's Party (CPP) is a political party in Ghana founded in 1949 by Kwame Nkrumah. It played a significant role in the country's struggle for independence from British colonial rule and was the first political party to gain mass support in Ghana.
The CPP was instrumental in the establishment of the first republic in Ghana in 1960, with Nkrumah serving as its first president. Although the party faced challenges and was banned after a coup in 1966, it has since been re-established and continues to participate in Ghana's political landscape.
