Contrast Detection
Contrast Detection is a method used in photography and imaging to determine the sharpness and focus of an image. It works by analyzing the contrast between different areas of the image. When the camera detects a high level of contrast, it indicates that the image is in focus, while low contrast suggests that the image is out of focus.
This technique is commonly used in digital cameras and smartphones for autofocus systems. By adjusting the lens until the contrast reaches its peak, the camera can achieve a clear and sharp image. Autofocus systems that utilize contrast detection are often found in mirrorless cameras and point-and-shoot cameras.
