Constantin Brancoveanu
Constantin Brancoveanu was a notable ruler of the Principality of Wallachia from 1688 to 1714. He is remembered for his efforts to modernize the region, promoting trade and culture. Brancoveanu was also a patron of the arts, supporting the construction of churches and schools, which contributed to the cultural development of Wallachia.
His reign ended tragically when he was captured by the Ottoman Empire during a conflict. Refusing to convert to Islam, he was executed in 1714, along with his sons. Today, he is celebrated as a national hero in Romania for his dedication to his people and faith.
