Consolidated Aircraft Corporation
The Consolidated Aircraft Corporation was an American aircraft manufacturer founded in 1923. It became well-known for producing military aircraft during World War II, including the famous B-24 Liberator bomber. The company played a significant role in the aviation industry, contributing to the war effort with innovative designs and mass production techniques.
In 1943, Consolidated Aircraft merged with Vultee Aircraft, forming the Consolidated Vultee Aircraft Corporation. This merger expanded their capabilities and product line, allowing them to produce a wider range of military and civilian aircraft. The company continued to operate until it was eventually absorbed into other aerospace firms in the 1960s.
