Connectives
Connectives are words or phrases that link sentences and ideas together, helping to create coherence in writing. They can indicate relationships such as addition, contrast, cause and effect, or sequence. Common examples include "and," "but," "because," and "therefore." By using connectives, writers can guide readers through their thoughts more smoothly.
In addition to improving flow, connectives also clarify the relationships between different parts of a text. For instance, using connectives like "however" or "on the other hand" can highlight contrasting ideas. This makes it easier for readers to understand the writer's message and follow the overall argument or narrative.
