Connecticut History
Connecticut's history dates back to the early 17th century when European settlers arrived. The area was originally inhabited by the Pequot and Mohegan tribes. In 1636, Thomas Hooker led a group of Puritans to establish the Connecticut Colony, which became one of the first self-governing colonies in America.
During the American Revolution, Connecticut played a significant role, providing troops and resources. The state was also known for its shipbuilding and manufacturing industries in the 19th century. Today, Connecticut is recognized for its rich cultural heritage and historical sites, including the Mark Twain House and Mystic Seaport.
