Confederate Army Regiments
The Confederate Army regiments were military units that fought for the Confederacy during the American Civil War from 1861 to 1865. Each regiment typically consisted of around 1,000 soldiers and was organized by state. They were often named after their home state or region, such as the 1st Virginia Infantry or the Texas Cavalry.
Regiments were further divided into companies, usually made up of 100 men each. These units played crucial roles in various battles, including the Battle of Gettysburg and the Battle of Antietam. The structure and organization of these regiments were essential for coordinating military strategies and operations throughout the war.
