Confédération
The term "Confédération" refers to a union of sovereign states or groups that come together for specific purposes while maintaining their independence. This arrangement allows member states to collaborate on issues such as defense, trade, and diplomacy without losing their individual authority.
One notable example of a confederation is the Confédération suisse, or Swiss Confederation, which consists of 26 cantons that work together while preserving their autonomy. Another historical example is the Confederate States of America, which was formed during the American Civil War by several southern states seeking to maintain their rights and governance.
