Community-Supported Agriculture
Community-Supported Agriculture (CSA) is a system where consumers buy shares of a farm's harvest in advance. This arrangement allows farmers to receive financial support at the beginning of the growing season, helping them cover costs for seeds, labor, and equipment. In return, members receive fresh produce, often weekly, throughout the growing season.
CSAs promote local agriculture and strengthen the connection between farmers and consumers. Members typically receive a variety of seasonal fruits and vegetables, and some CSAs also offer options for dairy, meat, or flowers. This model encourages sustainable farming practices and reduces the carbon footprint associated with transporting food.
