Communist Party of Romania
The Communist Party of Romania (PCR) was a political party in Romania that played a significant role in the country's history during the 20th century. Founded in 1921, it aimed to establish a socialist state and was heavily influenced by the Soviet Union. The party gained power after World War II and ruled Romania until the 1989 revolution.
Under the leadership of Nicolae Ceaușescu, the PCR implemented strict policies and centralized control over the economy and society. The regime faced widespread discontent, leading to protests and ultimately the party's dissolution in December 1989, marking the end of communist rule in Romania.
