Communist Party of Hungary
The Communist Party of Hungary (KMP) was established in 1918, following the end of World War I. It aimed to promote Marxist-Leninist ideology and sought to establish a socialist state in Hungary. The party played a significant role in the short-lived Hungarian Soviet Republic in 1919, which was eventually overthrown.
After World War II, the KMP re-emerged and became a dominant political force, merging with other leftist groups to form the Hungarian Workers' Party. The party maintained power until the fall of communism in Hungary in 1989, leading to significant political and social changes in the country.
