Common Sulphur
Common Sulphur, scientifically known as Colias philodice, is a butterfly species found primarily in North America. It is easily recognizable by its bright yellow wings, often with black edges. These butterflies thrive in open fields, gardens, and meadows, where they feed on nectar from various flowers.
The life cycle of Common Sulphur includes four stages: egg, larva (caterpillar), pupa (chrysalis), and adult. The caterpillars primarily feed on plants from the legume family, such as clover and alfalfa. Common Sulphur butterflies are important pollinators, contributing to the health of ecosystems by aiding in plant reproduction.
