Common Stilt
The Common Stilt is a wading bird known for its long legs and slender body. It typically inhabits shallow wetlands, marshes, and coastal areas across Europe, Asia, and Africa. This bird is easily recognizable by its striking black and white plumage, along with its long, pink legs, which allow it to wade through water while foraging for food.
Feeding primarily on insects, crustaceans, and small fish, the Common Stilt uses its long bill to probe in mud and shallow water. During the breeding season, it builds nests on the ground, often in colonies, and both parents share the responsibility of incubating the eggs and caring for the chicks.
