Common Adder
The Common Adder, also known as Vipera berus, is a venomous snake found across Europe and parts of Asia. It typically has a distinctive zigzag pattern along its back, which can vary in color from brown to gray or black. This snake prefers habitats like woodlands, heathlands, and grasslands, often basking in the sun during warmer months.
Common Adders are relatively small, usually measuring between 60 to 90 centimeters in length. They are known for their shy nature and will often retreat when approached. While their venom can be harmful, bites are rarely fatal to humans, and they play an important role in controlling rodent populations.
