Commander Dudley W. Morton
Commander Dudley W. Morton was a notable officer in the United States Navy during World War II. He is best known for his leadership of the USS Wahoo, a submarine that played a significant role in the Pacific Theater. Under his command, the Wahoo sank numerous enemy ships, contributing to the naval efforts against Japan.
Morton was born on January 17, 1907, in New York City. He graduated from the United States Naval Academy in 1929 and served in various capacities before taking command of the Wahoo. Tragically, he was declared missing in action in 1943, and his contributions to naval warfare are still remembered today.
