Coming Out Day
Coming Out Day is observed annually on October 11th to celebrate and support individuals who identify as part of the LGBTQ+ community. The day encourages people to share their sexual orientation or gender identity openly, fostering acceptance and understanding. It aims to raise awareness about the challenges faced by LGBTQ+ individuals and promote a culture of inclusivity.
Established in 1988, Coming Out Day coincides with the anniversary of the 1987 March on Washington for Lesbian and Gay Rights. Organizations like the Human Rights Campaign and GLAAD actively promote this day, providing resources and support for those considering coming out.
