Combat Search and Rescue
Combat Search and Rescue (CSAR) is a military operation designed to locate and recover personnel who are in distress during combat situations. This can include downed pilots, injured soldiers, or anyone in need of urgent assistance. CSAR teams are specially trained to operate in hostile environments and often use helicopters and other aircraft to reach and extract individuals.
The primary goal of CSAR is to ensure the safety and return of military personnel while minimizing risks to the rescuers. These operations require coordination among various units, including aircraft, ground forces, and medical teams, to effectively execute rescues under challenging conditions.
