Columbia-class
The Columbia-class is a new class of nuclear-powered ballistic missile submarines being developed by the United States Navy. Designed to replace the aging Ohio-class submarines, the Columbia-class will enhance the U.S. strategic deterrent capabilities. Each submarine will carry up to 16 Trident II ballistic missiles, which are capable of delivering nuclear warheads.
The first Columbia-class submarine, named USS Columbia, is expected to be delivered in the early 2030s. These submarines will feature advanced technologies for stealth, survivability, and combat effectiveness, ensuring they can operate effectively in modern warfare environments.
