Colonial Exploitation
Colonial exploitation refers to the practice where powerful nations take control of weaker territories, often for economic gain. This process typically involves extracting natural resources, such as minerals and agricultural products, while imposing foreign governance and culture on the local population. The benefits of these resources primarily flow to the colonizers, leaving the indigenous people with little to no advantage.
During the era of European colonialism, many regions in Africa, Asia, and the Americas experienced significant disruption. Local economies were often restructured to serve the needs of the colonizers, leading to social and economic inequalities. This exploitation had lasting impacts, contributing to ongoing challenges in post-colonial societies.
