Colobus monkeys
Colobus monkeys are a group of primates found primarily in the forests of Africa. They are known for their striking black and white fur, long tails, and unique thumb structure, which is reduced or absent. These monkeys are herbivorous, mainly feeding on leaves, fruits, and flowers, and they have specialized stomachs to help digest their fibrous diet.
Social animals, colobus monkeys live in groups called troops, which can consist of several individuals. They are agile climbers, spending most of their time in trees, where they use their long limbs and tails for balance. Their vocalizations, including grunts and barks, help maintain communication within the troop.
