Colemak
Colemak is a keyboard layout designed to improve typing efficiency and comfort. It was created by Shai Coleman in 2006 as an alternative to the more common QWERTY layout. Colemak retains many of the QWERTY key positions, making it easier for users to transition without starting from scratch.
The layout minimizes finger movement by placing the most commonly used letters under the strongest fingers. This design aims to reduce strain and increase typing speed. Many users report a more comfortable typing experience and less fatigue compared to traditional layouts, making it a popular choice among typists and programmers.
