Coastal Winds
Coastal winds are breezes that occur along coastlines, primarily due to the temperature differences between land and water. During the day, the land heats up faster than the ocean, causing the air above the land to rise. This creates a low-pressure area that draws in cooler air from the ocean, resulting in a sea breeze.
At night, the process reverses. The land cools down more quickly than the water, leading to a high-pressure area over the land and a low-pressure area over the ocean. This causes the wind to blow from the land to the sea, known as a land breeze.
