Coastal Sequoia
The Coastal Sequoia, also known as Sequoiadendron giganteum, is a species of tree native to the western slopes of the Sierra Nevada mountains in California. These trees are among the tallest and largest living trees on Earth, often reaching heights of over 300 feet and living for more than 3,000 years. Their thick, fire-resistant bark helps protect them from wildfires, a common occurrence in their natural habitat.
Coastal Sequoias thrive in moist, temperate climates and are typically found in groves. They prefer well-drained soils and can grow in a variety of conditions, but they are most abundant in areas with ample rainfall. These majestic trees play a crucial role in their ecosystem, providing habitat for various wildlife and contributing to carbon storage.
