The Coalition Provisional Authority (CPA) was a transitional government established in Iraq after the 2003 invasion led by the United States and its allies. Its primary role was to administer the country, maintain order, and facilitate the rebuilding of Iraq's political and economic systems. The CPA operated from April 2003 until June 2004, when sovereignty was transferred to an interim Iraqi government. The CPA was headed by L. Paul Bremer, who implemented various reforms, including the disbanding of the Iraqi military and the de-Ba'athification policy, which removed members of the Ba'ath Party from positions of power.
