Coagulation Disorders
Coagulation disorders are medical conditions that affect the blood's ability to clot properly. This can lead to excessive bleeding or, conversely, unwanted blood clots. Common types include hemophilia, where the body lacks certain clotting factors, and von Willebrand disease, which affects platelet function.
These disorders can be inherited or acquired due to other health issues, such as liver disease or vitamin K deficiency. Diagnosis often involves blood tests to assess clotting function, and treatment may include medications, lifestyle changes, or in some cases, blood transfusions to manage symptoms and prevent complications.
