Clinical Commissioning Groups
Clinical Commissioning Groups (CCGs) are organizations in England responsible for planning and purchasing healthcare services for their local populations. They consist of groups of General Practitioners (GPs) who work together to assess the health needs of their communities and allocate resources accordingly. CCGs aim to improve patient care and ensure that services are efficient and effective.
Established in 2013, CCGs replaced Primary Care Trusts (PCTs) as part of the Health and Social Care Act. Each CCG is accountable for the quality and outcomes of the services it commissions, focusing on delivering better health outcomes and reducing health inequalities in their areas.
