Cleveland-Class Cruiser
The Cleveland-Class Cruiser was a class of light cruisers built for the United States Navy during World War II. Designed for versatility, these ships were equipped with advanced radar and heavy armament, including 6-inch guns, making them effective in both anti-aircraft and surface combat roles. A total of 27 ships were constructed, with the first launched in 1941.
These cruisers played a significant role in various naval battles throughout the war, including the Battle of Guadalcanal and the Philippines. Their speed and maneuverability allowed them to support aircraft carriers and protect convoys, contributing to the overall success of the U.S. Navy in the Pacific Theater.
