Guadalcanal
Guadalcanal is the largest island in the Solomon Islands, located in the southwestern Pacific Ocean. It is known for its rich biodiversity, including tropical rainforests and coral reefs. The island has a population of around 100,000 people, primarily of Melanesian descent, and its economy is based on agriculture, fishing, and tourism.
During World War II, Guadalcanal was the site of a significant battle between Allied forces and the Imperial Japanese Army from August 1942 to February 1943. This battle marked a turning point in the Pacific Theater, as it was the first major offensive by the Allies against Japan, leading to a shift in momentum in the war.
