Cinnamomum verum (Cinnamon)
Cinnamomum verum, commonly known as true cinnamon or Ceylon cinnamon, is a small evergreen tree native to Sri Lanka and parts of India. It is valued for its aromatic bark, which is harvested and dried to produce cinnamon sticks or ground spice. This type of cinnamon is known for its sweet flavor and is often used in cooking and baking.
The tree can grow up to 15 meters tall and has glossy green leaves and small yellow flowers. Cinnamomum verum is distinct from Cinnamomum cassia, or cassia cinnamon, which is more commonly found in grocery stores and has a stronger, spicier taste.
