Cimetière des Innocents
The Cimetière des Innocents was a historic cemetery located in the Les Halles district of Paris, France. Established in the 12th century, it became the burial site for many Parisians, including notable figures. The cemetery was known for its overcrowding and unsanitary conditions, leading to health concerns.
In 1780, the cemetery was closed, and the remains were transferred to the Catacombs of Paris. The site was later transformed into a public square, known as the Place des Innocents, which features a fountain and serves as a reminder of the cemetery's historical significance.
