Ciliary Arteries
Ciliary arteries are small blood vessels that supply blood to the eye, specifically to the ciliary body and iris. They branch off from the ophthalmic artery, which is a major artery that provides blood to various structures in the eye. These arteries play a crucial role in maintaining the health and function of the eye by delivering essential nutrients and oxygen.
There are typically two main types of ciliary arteries: the long ciliary arteries and the short ciliary arteries. The long ciliary arteries run along the length of the eye, while the short ciliary arteries form a network around the back of the eye. Together, they ensure that the eye receives adequate blood supply for optimal vision and overall eye health.
