Ciénaga de Zapata
The Ciénaga de Zapata is a vast wetland located in southern Cuba, covering approximately 6,000 square kilometers. It is known for its rich biodiversity, including numerous species of birds, reptiles, and plants. The area is part of the Zapata Swamp, which is one of the largest and most important ecosystems in the Caribbean.
This region is also home to the Zapata Peninsula, which features a mix of mangroves, marshes, and lagoons. The Ciénaga de Zapata is a protected area, designated as a national park, and is recognized as a UNESCO Biosphere Reserve due to its ecological significance and unique wildlife.
