Chronic Traumatic Encephalopathy
Chronic Traumatic Encephalopathy (CTE) is a progressive brain disease caused by repeated head injuries, often seen in athletes involved in contact sports like football and boxing. It leads to the accumulation of a protein called tau, which can disrupt normal brain function and cause various symptoms over time.
Symptoms of CTE may include memory loss, confusion, impaired judgment, and mood changes. These symptoms can worsen as the disease progresses, affecting daily life and overall well-being. Diagnosis is typically made posthumously through brain examination, as there is currently no definitive test available during a person's lifetime.
