Chromophobe Renal Cell Carcinoma
Chromophobe Renal Cell Carcinoma (ChRCC) is a type of kidney cancer that arises from the cells of the renal tubules. It is characterized by the presence of large, pale cells with a distinct cell structure. ChRCC accounts for about 5% of all renal cell carcinomas and is generally considered to have a better prognosis compared to other types, such as clear cell renal cell carcinoma.
The exact cause of ChRCC is not well understood, but it is associated with certain genetic conditions, including Birt-Hogg-Dubé syndrome. Symptoms may include blood in the urine, flank pain, and unexplained weight loss. Diagnosis typically involves imaging studies and a biopsy to confirm the presence of cancerous cells.
