Chretien de Troyes
Chrétien de Troyes was a medieval French poet and writer, active in the late 12th century. He is best known for his contributions to the Arthurian legend, particularly through his romances that explore themes of chivalry, love, and adventure. His works, such as Erec et Enide and Lancelot, the Knight of the Cart, helped shape the narrative of the Knights of the Round Table.
His writing introduced the concept of courtly love and emphasized the moral and ethical dilemmas faced by knights. Chrétien's influence extended beyond his lifetime, inspiring later authors and shaping the genre of romance literature in Europe.
