Chornobyl Nuclear Power Plant
The Chornobyl Nuclear Power Plant is located near the town of Chornobyl in Ukraine. It was built in the 1970s and consisted of four nuclear reactors. The plant was designed to generate electricity using nuclear fission, a process that releases a large amount of energy.
In April 1986, a catastrophic accident occurred at the plant, leading to a massive release of radioactive materials into the environment. This incident is known as the Chornobyl disaster and is considered one of the worst nuclear accidents in history. The area around the plant remains largely uninhabited due to radiation contamination.
