Chital
The Chital, also known as the spotted deer, is a species native to the Indian subcontinent. It is characterized by its distinctive coat, which is reddish-brown with white spots. Adult males typically weigh between 70 to 100 pounds, while females are slightly lighter. Chital are social animals, often found in herds, and they primarily inhabit grasslands and forests.
Chital are herbivores, feeding on grasses, leaves, and fruits. They are known for their graceful movements and agility, which help them evade predators such as tigers and leopards. Their population is stable in many protected areas, but habitat loss poses a threat in some regions.
