Chinstrap penguin
The Chinstrap penguin is a medium-sized penguin species found primarily on the islands of the Southern Ocean, particularly around the Antarctic Peninsula. They are easily recognizable by the narrow black band that runs under their heads, resembling a chinstrap. Adult chinstraps typically weigh between 3 to 5.5 kilograms and stand about 68 to 76 centimeters tall.
Chinstrap penguins primarily feed on krill, fish, and other small marine organisms. They are social birds, often nesting in large colonies on rocky shores. Their breeding season occurs during the Antarctic summer, where they build nests from pebbles and lay two eggs, which both parents help to incubate.
