Chinese giant flying squirrel
The Chinese giant flying squirrel is a large species of flying squirrel found primarily in the forests of China, particularly in the regions of Sichuan and Yunnan. It has a distinctive fluffy tail and a body length of about 30 to 50 centimeters, with a wingspan created by its patagium, a membrane that stretches from its wrists to its ankles, allowing it to glide between trees.
These squirrels are nocturnal and primarily herbivorous, feeding on fruits, nuts, and leaves. They are known for their impressive gliding abilities, which help them escape predators and navigate their forest habitats. The Chinese giant flying squirrel plays a vital role in its ecosystem by aiding in seed dispersal.
