Chimu Civilization
The Chimu Civilization was an ancient culture that thrived in northern Peru from around 900 to 1470 AD. Known for their advanced agricultural techniques, the Chimu developed extensive irrigation systems to support their farming. Their capital, Chan Chan, was one of the largest pre-Columbian cities in the Americas, featuring impressive adobe structures and intricate designs.
The Chimu were skilled artisans, creating beautiful pottery, textiles, and metalwork. They worshipped a variety of deities, with a strong emphasis on the moon and sea. The civilization eventually fell to the Inca Empire, which absorbed many of their cultural practices and technologies.
