Chilean Soapbark
Chilean Soapbark, scientifically known as Quillaja saponaria, is a tree native to central Chile. It is recognized for its unique bark, which contains saponins—natural compounds that create a lather when mixed with water. This property has made it valuable for various applications, including cosmetics and food products.
The tree can grow up to 20 meters tall and has a distinctive, rough bark that is grayish-brown in color. Quillaja saponaria is also important ecologically, providing habitat for various species and contributing to the local ecosystem in Chile's Mediterranean climate.
