Chilblains
Chilblains are painful, itchy swellings that occur on the skin, typically in response to cold temperatures. They usually affect areas like the fingers, toes, ears, and nose. When the skin is exposed to cold and then warms up too quickly, small blood vessels can become inflamed, leading to these uncomfortable lesions.
Symptoms of chilblains include redness, swelling, and sometimes blisters. They are more common in people with poor circulation or those who have a history of Raynaud's phenomenon. Treatment often involves keeping the affected areas warm and avoiding further exposure to cold. In severe cases, a doctor may recommend medication.
