Chief Sitting Bull
Chief Sitting Bull was a prominent leader of the Hunkpapa Lakota Sioux tribe in the 19th century. He is best known for his role in the resistance against the United States government’s encroachment on Native American lands. Sitting Bull became a symbol of Native American strength and unity during a time of significant conflict.
Sitting Bull gained fame for his leadership during the Battle of Little Bighorn in 1876, where his forces, along with those of Crazy Horse, defeated General George Custer and his troops. After years of resistance, he eventually surrendered in 1881 and later toured with Buffalo Bill's Wild West Show.
