Chhau
Chhau is a traditional Indian dance form that originates from the eastern states of Odisha, West Bengal, and Jharkhand. The performances often depict themes from Hindu mythology, particularly stories related to deities like Durga and Krishna.
The dance is typically performed during festivals and cultural celebrations, often accompanied by live music. Chhau can be categorized into three styles: Purulia, Mayurbhanj, and Seraikella, each with its unique characteristics and regional influences. This art form is recognized for its rich cultural heritage and has been included in the list of Intangible Cultural Heritage by UNESCO.
